Making new friends!

Taken a little while ago but just realized it never made it here.

Our little girl since last year isn't scared of bugs anymore. Go back a little more and the sight of something smaller than a postage stamp, and she would shriek in horror!

Now, she's making new friends any time she can.

Technical information:
Shot at 55mm, ISO200 f4 and 1/160s
Changed the curves, saturation, cropped...
I'm learning and want to improve. Don't hesitate to post constructive criticism!

Her little Planet - Fraisonoid 2010

We went to pick up strawberries with some friends and family. Again this year, made a pano. Taken from a "slightly" lower vantage point this time!

Interactive View.

Her little Planet - Fraisonoid 2010 in Equirectangular

Technical information:
24 images in 1 row + nadir + zenith * 3 exposures each.
Shot at 8mm, ISO200 f13 and 1/100s +/- 2.
Generated 3 equirectangular panorama (one per exposure) with hugin but only used the 0 EV to pseudo HDR in photomatix (alignment problems).
Merged the -2EV sky to get a minimum of contrast.
Post process to enhance the contrast and change the curves.

Park Bench in Infrared! - Quebec City!

My first picture in infrared. The first public at least... I'll spare you the failed ones. This one is far from perfect, but it's a good start. Feel like when I started panos; working on shaky grounds.

One important breakthrough came when I found comments about Lightroom being quite bad at managing any IR white balance. So I went back to Canons (some people say it's among the best raw converters...). It indeed did a good job, and the image was more potent to work with than earlier tries.

[Editorial Comment]
I hadn't installed any of the software that came with the camera since I used lightroom and other software to do all the work; nothing from Canon. In this case, I needed it. So, I did as with all the software I use, I went to the site and downloaded the software. All went well. Until I tried to install... The software required me to provide the original CD (from the camera box), or would only update an already installed version.

Why would you do that? So people with a nikon\pentax\sony cannot use it? Come on! They probably will never use any canon software. And if they really wanted to, this is not going to stop them. So who does it piss off? Me, the canon user who because of the renovations has some furniture blocking access to the place where the box is.

Do you make money on the software? No! Do you sell more cameras because of the software (and would loose those sales if it was already available)? No!

Then, stop pissing off your users, and let them download it.
[Editorial Comment End]

Technical information:
Shot at 17mm, ISO400 f6.3 and 30s
Converted to 16 bit using Canon Digital Photo Professional
Swapped channels, changed white balance, changed levels.

Park Bench in Infrared! - Quebec City!

Walrus Attack! - Attaque de Morse!

We spent an hour at the Quebec Aquarium today. I was peacefully taking pictures of this walrus. It made a sound something like an elefant gargrling or a whale burping. Charming. Then, without any further warning, it spit and missed me by about a foot. I backed up quickly from the glass wall, and it did spit many more times with better aim. It was going pretty far now, but I (and my camera) were out of reach. A few people got a little wet!

Technical information:
Shot at 55mm, ISO100 f5.6 and 1/320s
Recropped... and nothing more. Almost SOOC

Walrus Attack!

Information Technique:
Prise a 55mm, ISO100 f5.6 et 1/320s
Recoupé... et c'est tout!
